Thomas Medicus is an Austrian artist who builds sculptures from layers of painted glass. He plays with different view points and uses these illusions to create stunning works. Medicus went to school for glass art and was hired at a firm who made stained glass windows. He took his experience and made unique pieces. One of the things he made was the "Emulsifier". A total of 4 different images can be seen, 2 fish and 2 birds. I find the construction of this very interesting as it is something you would not typically think of. The combination of the many glass strips still give it a 3D effect and observing the work in person would incredible. The reason it inspires me is because of how unique the idea is as well as the work put behind it in order to execute the illusion. Many factors had to be considered to get the right effect and I respect that. I might have bit of a fascination with things made of glass so that could also be a reason for my inspiration.
